MagDuo 2 Zone Two-Wire Fire Alarm Panel Kit - Black

The MagDuo 2 Zone Fire Alarm Panel Kit combines an ESP MAGDUO2B two-zone, two-wire fire panel in a black metal enclosure with seven selectable optical smoke/heat detectors, two resettable manual call points and a detector head removal tool. The two-wire architecture runs both power and signals on a single cable loop per zone, reducing installation time and cable costs compared to conventional four-wire systems.

Designed for small commercial premises, light industrial buildings, care homes and multi-occupancy residential buildings where a two-zone setup meets fire safety regulations, the kit provides all components needed for a basic addressable fire alarm installation except the two 12V 3.2Ah SLA standby batteries required by the panel. Six detectors include optical smoke/heat sensing with integral sounders and bases, one detector adds a strobe for corridor or area-of-refuge installation, and the two call points allow manual triggering from exit routes.

The MAGDUO2B panel fits a 380 x 350 x 240mm black steel cabinet and accepts up to two detection zones, each loop capable of supporting multiple detectors and call points on a single two-core cable run. The optical detectors are field-selectable between smoke and heat modes via a switch on the detector head, allowing the system to be configured room-by-room without needing different detector models. The integral sounders in each detector provide distributed audio alarm coverage without requiring separate sounder circuits.

The kit supplies the panel, detectors, call points and removal tool but does not include the standby batteries (2 x 12V 3.2Ah SLA required), cabling between zones and devices, or any additional detectors or call points needed to meet site-specific fire risk assessments. Installation must be carried out by a competent fire alarm engineer in accordance with BS 5839-1 and local building regulations.

What batteries does the panel require?

The MAGDUO2B panel requires 2 x 12V 3.2Ah sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries for standby power. These are not included in the kit and must be purchased separately.

Can the detectors be switched between smoke and heat modes after installation?

Yes. Each MAGDUOSHDS and MAGDUOSHDSS detector has a field-selectable switch on the head allowing it to operate as either an optical smoke detector or a heat detector, configurable room by room without changing hardware.

How many detectors can each zone support?

The MAGDUO2B two-wire panel supports up to two zones. The maximum number of devices per zone depends on cable run length and power draw — consult the ESP MagDuo technical manual or a qualified fire alarm installer for site-specific calculations.

Does this kit meet UK fire alarm standards?
