Description
The MagDuo is a 2-wire smoke and heat detector with an integrated sounder and LED strobe, combining fire detection and alarm notification in a single ceiling-mounted unit. The detector offers seven selectable detection modes including combined smoke and heat sensing, smoke-only, heat-only, and rate-of-rise temperature detection. The integrated sounder provides three selectable tone patterns, while the LED strobe gives visual alarm indication for environments where audible alarms alone may not be sufficient.
Designed for commercial, industrial and residential fire alarm systems, the MagDuo runs on a 2-wire conventional circuit, simplifying installation compared to 4-wire detectors that require separate power and signal lines. The built-in End of Line (EOL) function allows the detector to act as a circuit terminator, reducing component count and wiring complexity on conventional fire alarm panels. The detector fits a standard 150mm ceiling base (included) and connects via screw terminals on the base plate.
The MagDuo self-calibrates every six hours to maintain detection accuracy as environmental conditions change, and continuously monitors dust contamination on the optical chamber to prevent false alarms caused by accumulated debris. The white polycarbonate housing measures 150mm diameter by 80mm height and carries an IP21C rating, providing protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and condensation. The clear ribbed lens below the detector body houses the strobe LED and allows visual confirmation of alarm status from floor level.

Frequently Asked
What are the seven detection modes?
The MagDuo offers smoke-only, heat-only, rate-of-rise heat, combined smoke and heat, and three additional modes detailed in the manual. Each mode is selected via DIP switches on the detector base, allowing the same unit to be configured for different room types and risk profiles.
How does the 2-wire design simplify installation?
2-wire detectors draw power and send alarm signals over the same pair of conductors, eliminating the need for separate power and signal wiring. This reduces cable runs, termination points and installation time compared to 4-wire systems.
What is the End of Line (EOL) function?
The built-in EOL function allows the detector to act as a circuit terminator on conventional fire alarm panels. This removes the need for a separate EOL resistor at the end of the detection zone, reducing component count and simplifying panel commissioning.
Can the sounder and strobe be disabled independently?
Configuration options are detailed in the product manual. Typical ESP detectors allow sounder tone and strobe pattern to be selected independently, but verify specific settings in the Downloads section before specifying for a project.
