Description

The Mabell is a wall-mounted light fitting with an asymmetric blown glass dome finished in polished copper, housing a single E14 bulb behind the curved glass surface. The dome measures 27.5cm high by 20.8cm wide and mounts on a black metal backplate that sits flush to the wall, positioning the glass approximately 12.8cm from the wall surface.

Designed for accent lighting in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and dining areas, the Mabell casts light through the copper-toned glass, creating warm reflections and diffused ambient light rather than directed task illumination. The asymmetric form of the blown glass means the light spreads unevenly across the wall and ceiling, producing shadow patterns that shift depending on viewing angle. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and outdoor exposure.

The copper finish on the glass is a metallic surface treatment applied during manufacture, giving a polished mirror-like appearance when unlit and a warm amber glow when the bulb is switched on. The black metal backplate and fitting assembly provide visual contrast against the reflective copper dome. No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry indoor locations. It is not rated for bathroom zones or any area subject to moisture or direct water contact.

How is the copper dome cleaned?

Wipe the glass surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or smudges, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid household glass cleaners or chemical sprays, as they may damage the metallic copper finish on the glass.

What wall surface is needed for installation?

The black metal backplate fixes to the wall with screws and covers a standard UK wiring back box. Solid walls (brick, block, plaster on masonry) are recommended for secure fixing. Plasterboard walls require cavity fixings rated to support the weight of the glass dome and metal assembly.
