Description

The LYYT RGB LED strip is a 5m reel of flexible 12Vdc tape carrying 60 RGB LEDs per metre, with an IP65 epoxy coating and self-adhesive backing. Each Epistar 5050 RGB LED emits red, green and blue individually, allowing the strip to produce any colour when connected to a compatible RGB controller (sold separately). The tape draws 14.4W per metre and delivers 600 lumens per metre across a 140-degree beam angle.

Designed for accent lighting in homes, vehicles, retail displays, bars and event installations, the strip adheres directly to clean dry surfaces via the 3M-style adhesive backing. The 12mm width and 3mm thickness allow it to fit into narrow channels, under shelving, behind mirrors and around curved surfaces without visible mounting hardware. The IP65 rating protects the LEDs and circuitry from dust and water splashes, making the strip suitable for bathroom mirrors, kitchen plinths and outdoor covered areas where moisture exposure is moderate.

The strip can be cut at marked 5cm intervals to fit exact lengths, with solder connection accessories supplied in the box for joining cut sections or connecting power feeds. For runs longer than 5m, an RGB amplifier (153.771UK) and splitter (153.900UK) are required to maintain brightness and colour accuracy across the extended length. The strip pairs with AVSL RGB controllers including IR remote models (153.741UK, 153.751UK), DMX (153.777UK, 153.797UK) and WiFi app control (153.896UK), none of which are included.

The Epistar 5050 LEDs are rated for up to 50,000 hours operational life at 12Vdc. The epoxy coating covers the entire surface of the strip, diffusing individual LED points into a continuous glow and protecting the circuitry from general wear. At 230g for the full 5m reel, the strip adds negligible weight to installations and can be mounted vertically or overhead without sagging.

Does the strip include a controller or power supply?

No. The strip requires a 12Vdc power supply rated for at least 72W (for the full 5m length at 14.4W per metre) and a compatible RGB controller to change colours. AVSL produces IR remote, DMX and WiFi controllers that pair with this strip, all sold separately.

Can the strip be cut to fit a specific length?

Yes. The strip has cut marks every 5cm along its length. Cutting at these points preserves the circuit integrity. Solder connection accessories are supplied in the box for joining cut sections or connecting power feeds to custom lengths.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

The IP65 rating provides protection from dust and water splashes, making the strip suitable for outdoor covered areas such as under eaves, in garden gazebos or pergolas. It is not rated for full immersion or prolonged exposure to heavy rain.

How is the strip powered for runs longer than 5m?

For runs beyond 5m, use an RGB amplifier (153.771UK) and splitter (153.900UK) to maintain brightness and colour consistency. Extension leads of 3m (153.903UK) and 5m (153.905UK) are also available for connecting additional reels without voltage drop.
