Description

The Lyria is a 40cm sphere table lamp built from a single blown glass globe, acid-etched to a matt white finish that diffuses light in all directions. The sphere sits on a white metal base and fixing collar that stabilises the globe and conceals the E27 lampholder inside. The lamp takes one E27 bulb (sold separately) up to 60W, and the glass diffuser softens the output to produce ambient rather than task lighting.

Designed for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms where ambient light is needed without ceiling fittings, the Lyria works on low sideboards, console tables and larger bedside tables. The 40cm diameter gives the lamp enough presence to act as a standalone light source in a 3-4m living room corner or at the end of a 2m-wide sideboard. The sphere projects light upwards onto walls and ceilings as well as downwards, so it fills vertical space more effectively than a standard table lamp with a directional shade.

The blown glass is thicker at the base of the sphere where it meets the metal collar, tapering slightly towards the top. This gives the lamp structural strength without adding visible weight. The acid-etched finish eliminates glare and hides the bulb filament completely when lit, so the sphere appears as a single glowing object rather than a visible bulb inside a shade. The white metal base measures approximately 120mm diameter and adds enough stability to prevent the lamp tipping on carpets or rugs.

What bulb does the Lyria take?

The lamp takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED globe bulb between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K to match the soft diffusion of the acid-etched glass.

Is the lamp dimmable?

The lamp itself is not rated as dimmable. However, if you fit a dimmable E27 LED bulb and connect the lamp to a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the mains circuit, the output can be reduced. Check bulb and dimmer compatibility before purchasing.

What size table does it suit?

The 40cm sphere and 120mm base footprint suit sideboards, console tables and larger bedside tables with at least 500mm of clear width. The lamp is too large for typical narrow side tables under 400mm wide.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the lamp is designed for dry indoor locations only. It does not carry the IP44 or higher rating required for bathroom zones.
