Lumis Outdoor Wall Light - Antique Brass

The Lumis is a downward-facing outdoor wall light with a conical metal shade in an antique brass finish, suspended on a curved arm from a shaped wall plate. The fitting is built from die-cast aluminium with a clear acrylic diffuser set into the underside of the shade, housing a single E27 bulb (sold separately). The IP43 rating allows installation in sheltered outdoor positions where direct water jets are not expected.

Designed for porches, covered doorways, sheltered patios and garage entrances, the Lumis casts downward light through the acrylic diffuser to illuminate thresholds and pathway edges without glare. The 460mm projection brings the shade well clear of the wall, so the light pattern spreads outward rather than washing straight down the wall surface. The arm connects to the wall via a backplate approximately 280mm in height, sized to suit typical UK brick coursing.

The antique brass finish is applied over the die-cast aluminium frame to give a darkened, aged appearance rather than the bright yellow tone of polished brass. This darker finish suits traditional cottage exteriors, brick-built period properties and rustic garden settings where a heritage appearance is preferred. The clear acrylic diffuser protects the bulb from dust and light rain while allowing the full light output through, making it compatible with warm-white LED filament bulbs that mimic the appearance of traditional incandescent lamps.

What does IP43 mean for outdoor use?

IP43 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water spray at angles up to 60° from vertical. This suits sheltered outdoor locations such as covered porches, eaves and canopies. The Lumis should not be installed in fully exposed positions where it would receive direct rainfall or horizontal water jets.

What bulb should I use with this fitting?

The Lumis takes a standard E27 bulb. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K works well, giving adequate light output for pathway and entrance illumination while maintaining the traditional character of the fitting. LED filament bulbs suit the clear diffuser design.

Is the antique brass finish weatherproof?

The antique brass finish is applied over die-cast aluminium, which resists corrosion in typical UK outdoor conditions. The finish may develop a patina over time when exposed to moisture and air, which is characteristic of brass in outdoor settings.

Can this be fitted to a rendered or stone wall?

Yes. The backplate is designed for standard masonry fixings and can be mounted to brick, stone or rendered walls using appropriate wall plugs and screws for the substrate type. Ensure the cable entry point is sealed to prevent water ingress behind the fitting.
