Description
The Luminis is an outdoor wall light built from die-cast aluminium with a brown powder-coated finish and a cylindrical Pyrex glass diffuser. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) housed inside a louvred aluminium cage visible through the clear glass, which directs light both upward and downward while protecting the bulb from direct weather exposure. The IP44 rating covers protection against splashing water from any direction, making this suitable for covered porches, garden walls and pathway positions where the fitting is not directly exposed to driving rain.
Designed for residential gardens, patios and building entrances, the Luminis mounts to a wall via a rectangular backplate measuring 110mm tall with 250mm projection from the wall surface. The brown finish sits between a true rust tone and a warm bronze, pairing well with brick, natural stone, timber cladding and terracotta render. The cylindrical form and louvred interior give the fitting an industrial-style profile without the weight of cast iron or solid brass alternatives.
The die-cast aluminium body resists corrosion in coastal and humid environments better than pressed steel, and the brown powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, reducing the risk of finish flaking under UV exposure. The Pyrex glass diffuser is borosilicate, which tolerates rapid temperature changes better than standard soda-lime glass — this matters when a cold rain hits a warm bulb. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. The Luminis is suitable for covered porches, under eaves, on garden walls with overhang, and pathway positions where it is not directly exposed to driving rain or submersion. It is not rated for full exposure to heavy weather or ground-level flooding.
What bulb does it take?
The Luminis takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) for ambient outdoor lighting. The louvred cage inside the glass directs light both upward and downward.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and connected to a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. The fitting itself does not contain dimming electronics — dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb and dimmer model used.
How is the brown finish maintained?
The powder-coated aluminium finish requires minimal maintenance. Wipe occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and salt residue in coastal areas. Avoid abrasive cleaners or wire brushes, which can scratch the powder coat and expose the aluminium underneath.
