The Luminis is a 40cm outdoor bollard light built from die-cast aluminium with a powder-coated white finish and a Pyrex glass diffuser housing. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the bollard suitable for year-round installation in UK gardens, driveways and pathways exposed to rain and wind.

Designed for pathway marking, garden borders and driveway edges, the 40cm height keeps light low to the ground, minimising upward glare while illuminating steps, path edges and planting beds. The bollard accepts a standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing flexibility to choose LED, CFL or filament sources depending on the desired colour temperature and brightness. The Pyrex diffuser disperses light through 360 degrees horizontally, providing consistent illumination around the fixture rather than directing light in a single beam.

The die-cast aluminium body provides structural rigidity and resistance to impact, corrosion and UV degradation over multiple seasons. The white powder-coat finish is applied in multiple layers to prevent chipping and fading under prolonged sun exposure. The base flange mounts to concrete, paving slabs or compacted gravel using three fixing points (fixings not supplied), with the electrical cable routed through a knock-out grommet in the base before being buried in conduit or protective ducting back to the supply point.

The Pyrex glass diffuser is a borosilicate glass variant chosen for its thermal shock resistance, meaning it can handle the temperature differential between a hot halogen bulb and cold rainwater without cracking. The internal aluminium elements visible through the clear diffuser create horizontal banding that breaks up the light into softer layers, reducing the visual intensity of the bare bulb when viewed from eye level while walking past the bollard.

What does the IP65 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP65 certifies complete protection against dust and protection against low-pressure water jets from any direction. The Luminis can withstand rain, garden hose spray and cleaning with a pressure washer on a gentle setting, but should not be submerged or installed in areas subject to standing water or flooding.

What bulb should be used?

The bollard takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. For outdoor pathway lighting, most users install a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. The diffuser disperses light in all directions, so higher lumen outputs are rarely necessary for typical garden pathway applications.

How is the bollard mounted?

The base flange has three fixing points for screws or bolts into concrete, paving slabs or timber decking. The electrical cable exits through a knock-out grommet in the base and must be routed in buried conduit or protected ducting back to the supply point. Fixings are not supplied.

Can this be used with a dimmer?

Yes, provided a dimmable bulb is installed. Standard non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail on a dimmer circuit. Check that your chosen E27 bulb specifies dimmer compatibility before pairing with a dimmer switch.
