Luma 80cm Outdoor Bollard Light - Grey

The Luma is an 80cm outdoor bollard light constructed from powder-coated grey metal with a transparent Pyrex glass diffuser panel set into one face. The fitting houses two G9 bulbs (sold separately) behind the glass, directing light downwards and outwards to illuminate pathways, driveways and garden borders. The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making the bollard suitable for exposed garden and patio positions.

Designed for driveways, long pathways, and perimeter garden lighting where taller bollards are needed to cast light over wider areas, the 80cm height positions the light source above typical border planting and ground-level shrubs. The bollard mounts on a surface plate fixed to a hard surface (paving, concrete, gravel over compacted base) and requires mains voltage wiring to be run to the base position. The rectangular head measures 100mm wide by 160mm projection, creating a directional light throw rather than 360° spread.

The powder-coated grey finish is a mid-tone neutral that sits between charcoal and light grey, pairing with both contemporary paving (limestone, porcelain) and traditional stone. The metal body resists rust and weathering under the powder coating, and the Pyrex glass withstands temperature fluctuation and impact better than standard glass. The G9 bulb fitting accepts halogen or LED capsule bulbs, with LED options typically providing 2-4W equivalent to 25-40W halogen output for pathway visibility without light pollution.

What bulbs does the Luma take?

The bollard takes two G9 capsule bulbs (sold separately). G9 LED capsule bulbs in the 2-4W range provide adequate pathway lighting while keeping energy use low. Halogen G9 bulbs are also compatible but consume more power and generate more heat.

Can it be used in all outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes and solid objects above 1mm, making the Luma suitable for most garden, patio and driveway positions. It is not submersible and should not be installed in areas subject to flooding or standing water.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if paired with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible outdoor dimmer switch. Check the bulb packaging to confirm dimmer compatibility before purchasing.

How is it installed?

The bollard mounts on a surface plate that fixes to paving, concrete or other hard surfaces with screws and plugs. Mains voltage wiring must be run to the base position, typically via underground armoured cable from a weatherproof junction box or outdoor socket. Installation by a qualified electrician is recommended.
