Description

The Luma is a 60cm outdoor bollard light with a powder-coated anthracite metal body, rectangular head section housing a transparent Pyrex glass diffuser, and a dual-lamp configuration using two G9 bulbs (sold separately). The IP44 rating protects the internal components against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for UK garden pathways, driveways and patio edges exposed to rain.

Designed for residential and commercial outdoor lighting, the Luma casts downward and side-wash illumination from the rectangular head, lighting a 2-3m stretch of pathway or driveway per bollard when spaced at typical intervals. The 60cm height positions the light source below typical eye level for pedestrians while keeping the lamp clear of ground-level debris and lawn equipment. The bollard fixes directly into paving or soil using a ground spike or surface-mount base plate (mounting hardware requirements depend on installation surface).

The anthracite powder coating is a mid-grey-to-charcoal tone that pairs with contemporary slate paving, resin-bound gravel, and modern brick or render finishes. The rectangular head profile differentiates the Luma from cylindrical bollard designs and gives it a more architectural presence in minimalist garden schemes. The Pyrex glass diffuser withstands thermal shock from rapid temperature changes and UV exposure better than standard glass or acrylic.

Each G9 bulb is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer on the supply circuit, allowing the bollard to be integrated into automated outdoor lighting systems or manually dimmed for evening ambiance. The 100mm width and 150mm projection from the central column give the head section enough presence to be visible in daylight while remaining compact enough for narrow side passages.

The Luma takes two G9 capsule bulbs (sold separately). Most users pair it with warm-white LED G9 bulbs between 2.5-4W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting. Halogen G9 bulbs up to the maximum wattage can also be used.

Is it suitable for coastal or high-exposure locations?

The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing, but does not seal the fitting against salt spray or prolonged submersion. In coastal locations or areas with severe weather exposure, inspect the seals annually and consider applying a protective wax to the powder-coated surfaces.

How is it installed in the ground?

Installation depends on the surface. For soil or gravel, a ground spike driven into the substrate provides stability. For paving or concrete, a surface-mount base plate bolted or screwed to the surface is typical. The electrical cable runs underground to the bollard base and connects inside the column.

Can it be used with a dimmer or timer?

Yes. The G9 bulbs are dimmable when the supply circuit includes a compatible dimmer. The bollard can also be wired into outdoor lighting timers or smart home automation systems for scheduled on/off control.
