Description

The Lucia is a 406mm semi-flush ceiling light with a drum-shaped frame built from a lattice of sunflower-shaped Bauhinia crystals set into burnished silver metalwork. The crystals form an interlocking ogee pattern around the perimeter, enclosing a linen fabric shade and a glass bottom diffuser. A single E27 bulb inside the shade (sold separately, up to 60W) provides diffused ambient light that refracts through the crystal elements and the linen weave.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, landing areas and living rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a full pendant would hang too low, the semi-flush design sits 318mm from the ceiling, keeping the fitting out of head height while maintaining presence. The glass diffuser at the base directs light downwards and reduces glare when viewed from below. The linen shade softens the light output and prevents harsh shadows on the ceiling.

The burnished silver finish on the metal frame has a warmer tone than polished chrome or brushed nickel, sitting closer to pewter or aged steel. This pairs well with warm-toned interiors, brass door furniture and traditional woodwork without reading as overtly yellow or gold. The Bauhinia crystals are faceted rather than smooth, so they catch and refract light differently depending on viewing angle, creating a subtle sparkle effect when the fitting is lit. The fitting takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.

Is this suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The semi-flush design projects 318mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above where a full pendant would hang into head height. The fitting provides ambient light without requiring significant vertical clearance.

Can the crystals be cleaned?

The Bauhinia crystals can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth when the fitting is switched off and cool. For more thorough cleaning, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the crystals or allowing water to run into the electrical components behind the frame.
