Description

The Lucent is a 55mm square surface-mounted LED downlight with a matt black aluminium housing and an integrated 25W LED delivering warm 3000K light. The compact 55mm x 55mm footprint suits low ceilings, tight grid spacing and installations where recessing into the ceiling structure is not possible or desired. The internal plastic lens diffuses the LED output to reduce glare and spread light across a wider beam angle than a bare LED chip.

Designed for hallways, retail displays, corridor lighting and residential ceiling heights of 2.2-2.5m, the Lucent mounts directly onto the ceiling surface using the supplied fixing bracket. This surface-mount configuration projects approximately 55mm below the ceiling line, making it suitable for concrete ceilings, ceilings with shallow voids, or installations where the wiring terminates above the plasterboard with no recess cavity. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments only.

The matt black aluminium body absorbs rather than reflects ambient light, helping the fitting to recede visually against dark or neutral ceilings. The 25W integrated LED is non-dimmable and rated for 3000K warm white output, producing a colour tone similar to traditional halogen downlights. Ideal Lux covers the fitting under a 5-year warranty, which includes the integrated LED and driver assembly.

Is this downlight dimmable?

No. The integrated LED driver is non-dimmable and should not be connected to a dimmer switch. Attempting to dim the fitting may cause flickering, buzzing or early driver failure.

What does surface-mounted mean?

Surface-mounted means the downlight sits on top of the ceiling surface rather than being recessed into it. This makes it suitable for concrete ceilings, shallow ceiling voids, or installations where cutting into the ceiling structure is not possible. The fitting projects approximately 55mm below the ceiling line.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the Lucent is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be used in dry indoor environments. For bathrooms, kitchens and other areas with elevated humidity, choose a fitting rated IP44 or higher.

What colour temperature is 3000K?

3000K is warm white, producing a light tone similar to traditional halogen bulbs. It sits between the yellower 2700K tone of incandescent bulbs and the cooler 4000K-6500K tones found in daylight or clinical settings. 3000K is the most common choice for residential interiors.
