Description

The Lucent is a 75mm square surface-mounted LED downlight with a matt black aluminium body and an integrated 3000K LED light source. The square housing sits flush with the ceiling surface, projecting 75mm downward with a central LED lens positioned behind a plastic mask that diffuses the beam and reduces glare. The compact footprint allows multiple units to be installed in tight ceiling grids without crowding.

Designed for general ambient lighting and accent lighting in residential and commercial interiors, the Lucent suits hallways, corridors, retail spaces, offices and living areas where low-profile surface mounting is preferred over recessed installation. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments. The 3000K warm white light temperature provides general illumination without the cooler, clinical tone of 4000K+ LEDs.

The matt black finish on the aluminium housing absorbs ceiling reflections and provides contrast against white or light-coloured ceilings, making the fitting visible as a design element rather than attempting to blend in. The non-dimmable integrated LED delivers consistent output over its rated lifespan and removes the need for separate lamp replacement. The 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in the LED driver and housing.

Is the Lucent suitable for bathroom installation?

No. The IP20 rating restricts this downlight to dry indoor spaces only. Bathrooms require a minimum IP44 rating for zones 2 and 3, and IP65+ for zones 0 and 1. For bathroom downlights see the IP-rated products in the Niori catalogue.

Can the LED be replaced when it fails?

The LED is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced separately. Integrated LED fittings are designed to run for 25,000-50,000 hours before the LED output degrades to 70% of initial brightness. At typical domestic use (3-4 hours per day) this equates to 15-20 years of service before replacement of the entire fitting is needed.

What ceiling height is this suited to?

The Lucent works in standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. The 75mm projection and focused beam make it suitable for lower ceilings where recessed downlights would require deeper ceiling voids. Multiple units can be spaced at 1.2-1.5m centres for general ambient coverage in corridors or retail spaces.

Is it compatible with dimmer switches?

No. The integrated LED driver is not dimmable. Connecting this downlight to a dimmer circuit will result in flickering, buzzing or failure of the LED driver. If dimming is required, choose a dimmable-rated downlight from the Ideal Lux range.
