Luang Glass Pendant Light

The Luang is a single glass pendant light: a clear glass dome shade hung from a brass lampholder on a twisted fabric flex. Because the glass is clear, the light from the bulb passes straight through the shade, so it lights the room around it as well as the table beneath, and the bulb becomes part of the look. The pendant is 21cm tall and 23cm across, a tidy size that works on its own or in a row. You can choose it in Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Brass or Satin Brass.

We like it best over a dining table, where the open glass keeps the light generous and the brass lampholder adds a warm or cool note depending on the finish you pick, and in a living room, hung over a side table or a favourite chair. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The pendant takes one E27 bulb, sold separately, up to 40W per bulb, which leaves the shape and brightness of the bulb up to you. It hangs on 1m of cable as standard, and it is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician.

Each Luang is made to order for you in Ireland, in brass and glass. The four finishes give the same pendant quite different characters: Antique Brass and Antique Silver have a soft, aged look, Polished Brass is bright and reflective, and Satin Brass sits somewhere between, with a gentle sheen. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. When you order, choose the finish that sits best with the handles, frames and other metal already in the room, and pick up a bulb at the same time so it is ready once the pendant is fitted.
