Description

This oval hanging plaque brings a warm welcome to the wall, its gold metal frame holding the words 'love Lives Here' in cut metal lettering. The word 'love' flows across the top in a loose, joined-up script, while 'Lives Here' sits beneath it in a bold serif, so the message reads clearly from across a room. To one side, a spray of creamy white flowers and grey-green leaves spills over the edge of the frame and softens all that gold. The plaque measures 25cm high, 33cm across and 5cm deep.

Because the frame is a slim outline and the lettering is open, the plaque looks light on the wall and lets the colour behind it show through, so it sits happily against white, grey, sage or deeper shades. We like it in a hallway, where it greets everyone who comes through the door, above a bed or a console table, or on a living room wall among family photographs. At 33cm across it fills a narrow stretch of wall without crowding it, and the chain means it can hang from a door hook or a dresser knob as easily as from a nail. It makes a kind, cheerful gift that says something warm about the home it hangs in.

The frame and lettering are metal with a gold metallic-effect finish, and the plaque hangs from a fine gold-coloured chain fixed to the top of the oval, so a single hook or nail is all it needs. The flowers and leaves come fixed in place, so there is nothing to arrange. To keep it looking its best, dust the metal with a soft dry cloth and brush the flowers lightly with a soft, clean paintbrush. Hang it at eye level so the script reads easily, and leave a little space around it for the flowers to show.
