Lori Trapezium Glass Pendant Light 12cm Amber - Polished Chrome

A slim curved trapezium shade in amber hangs from a polished chrome suspension, so the glow it casts carries a warm, honeyed tint rather than a plain white wash. At 12cm across it is a genuinely small fitting, narrow enough to hang two or three in a line without the shades reading as heavy. The drop is adjustable at the point of fitting, which means it can sit high and neat under a low ceiling or drop right down over a work surface. It takes an E27 lamp.

We reach for this one where a broad shade would sit in the way of a sightline: above a breakfast bar, at either side of a bed in place of table lamps, over a console in a hall, or in a cluster above a dining table at staggered heights. The adjustment runs out to a maximum of 1.7m, so there is scope for taller rooms and stairwells as well. Lamps up to 20W suit it. It will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible wall dimmer, neither of which comes with the fitting.

The metalwork is finished in a bright polished chrome that picks up the amber of the shade and reflects it back. Keep both looking their best by wiping the chrome with a dry microfibre cloth to lift fingermarks, and giving the shade the same gentle treatment once the lamp is cold; nothing abrasive and no household sprays. This is one for dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashes, on a standard household circuit. It carries a one year warranty. How far down does the pendant hang?

The drop is adjustable from 270mm at its shortest to 1770mm at its longest, so you can set it to suit the room and the surface below.

What lamp should I use?

It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W. An LED is the sensible choice here, and because the shade is open the lamp itself is on show, so pick one whose shape and finish you are happy to see.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable type and it is paired with a suitable dimmer switch. Neither the lamp nor the dimmer is supplied.

How wide is the shade?

The shade measures 120mm in diameter, which keeps it slim enough for a run of two or three above a bar or island.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs in dry rooms away from steam and direct water.

How do I clean the amber shade?

Switch the light off at the wall and let the lamp go cold, then dust the shade with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasive creams and solvent cleaners, which can dull both the shade and the chrome.
