Description
Lori keeps things quiet overhead: a round satin nickel plate, 15cm across, with a slim curved trapezium shade beneath it in an iridescent finish that shifts as you move past. The shade tapers gently, narrower at the top than at its mouth, so the light drops downwards while the surface itself picks up whatever daylight is about. There is no stem and no chain, so the whole thing stays tight to the ceiling. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and it will dim if you pair a suitable lamp with a suitable dimmer.
Flush fittings earn their keep where a pendant cannot hang: hallways with a cupboard door swinging beneath, small landings, boxrooms, a cloakroom, the head of a narrow stair. This one is compact enough to repeat along a corridor without the ceiling looking busy, and it works in a bedroom where a downlight would feel too hard but a hanging shade would be in the way of the wardrobe. It is one of the few small pieces that answers a low ceiling without looking apologetic. We reach for it most often in flats and cottages where every centimetre of headroom counts.
The plate and trim wear a satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that sits well beside white paintwork and brushed switch plates. To clean it, switch off at the wall, let everything cool, then run a dry lint-free cloth over the shade and plate; skip sprays and anything abrasive, because that shifting surface is the whole appeal. Keep it to dry rooms indoors. It carries a one year warranty. If the trapezium is not your shape, the range runs to round globe, wine and dimple shades, and the same fitting comes in polished chrome and antique gold. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How much does it drop below the ceiling?
It projects 90mm, with a 150mm diameter plate, so it stays well clear of doors and wardrobe fronts.
Which lamp should I choose?
An E27 lamp rated at no more than 20W. An LED is the sensible choice here, and the look of the shade will guide whether you want a clear or an opal-style lamp behind it.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer. Neither comes with the fitting.
What does the iridescent shade actually look like?
The finish has a faint oil-on-water shimmer that changes with the angle you view it from, so it reads differently in daylight than it does with the lamp lit.
How should I look after the finish?
Power off, let the lamp go cold, then dust with a dry lint-free cloth. Avoid polishes, solvents and scouring pads on both the shade and the satin nickel.
Is it heavy?
No, it weighs around 1kg, which is light for a fitting of this kind.
