Description

A slim polished chrome bar holds four amber shades in a row, each tapering out and down like an upturned wine glass. The bar measures 1.2m end to end, so the light is spread along a line rather than gathered in one spot, and the narrow shades keep the fitting visually light for its size. The amber tint warms the light as it passes through, and the chrome throws a little of that colour back at the top of each shade.

We reach for a linear pendant like this over a kitchen island or a long dining table, where a central pendant on its own tends to leave the ends of the surface dim. The drop adjusts over a generous span, so it can hang low above a worktop or sit closer to the ceiling in a room with less headroom to give away. Each holder takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and the fitting will dim where suitable lamps are paired with a compatible dimmer, useful if the table doubles as a work spot during the day. It suits open plan kitchens and dining rooms that want warmth rather than glare.

The chrome is polished bright and will show fingerprints, so a pass with a dry duster now and then keeps it even along the bar. Let the power be off at the wall before you handle the shades, and keep sprays and damp cloths away from the holders. It carries a one year warranty.
