Lori 4 Light Clear Globe Pendant 1.2m Long - Polished Chrome

Four clear globes hang in a line from a slim polished chrome bar, each round with an open mouth at the base so the lamp inside stays part of the picture. The bar runs 1.2m end to end, long enough for the four to read as one continuous line rather than a row of separate lights. The globes measure 80mm across, and each hangs on its own adjustable suspension, so you can set them all dead level or step them down a little.

We would hang this over a dining table or a kitchen island, where a long run follows the shape of the surface far better than one central fitting can. It suits a breakfast bar too, or a wide hallway with the length to carry it. Clear shades give very little softening, so the light stays bright and the lamp itself does much of the visual work; choose lamps you are happy to look at. With suitable lamps and a dimmer fitted on the circuit, the whole run can be taken down to a low glow for the evening.

The chrome is polished to a bright, reflective finish that picks up daylight and the colour of the room around it, and the shades are left untinted. Bright metal and clear shades show dust sooner than a fabric shade would, so we would give the globes and the bar a wipe with a dry lint free cloth every few weeks, once the lamps have gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 270mm to 2270mm, measured from the ceiling to the bottom of the shade, so it can sit tight to the ceiling or drop low over a table.

What lamps should I use?

It takes four E27 lamps rated up to 20W each. LED is the sensible choice, and because the shades are clear it is worth picking a lamp whose shape and filament you like the look of.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with the fitting.

How wide are the shades?

Each round globe is 80mm across, with an open mouth at the base. The bar they hang from is 1200mm long.

How heavy is it?

The fitting weighs 4.7kg complete, before lamps.

Will it suit a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry interior rooms only, so keep it to dining rooms, kitchens, hallways and living spaces rather than bathrooms or covered outdoor areas.
