Description
Three opal shades sit in a shallow tier beneath a round antique gold plate, each one shaped like an upturned wine glass with a softly flared mouth. At 40cm across it covers a fair width of ceiling while staying close to it, so light spreads sideways as much as down. The gold has a warm, slightly aged tone rather than a bright shine, and the pale shades keep glare in check. It reads as a small cluster of hanging pieces without any of the drop.
We reach for a fitting like this where a pendant would hang into the way: a hallway, a landing, a bedroom with a lower ceiling, or over a breakfast table in a kitchen short on headroom. Because the three lamps sit apart from one another rather than bunched at the centre, light lands more evenly across a medium room, and there is enough of it to serve as the only source. It suits anyone who wants a little decoration overhead without giving up height. It will dim, too, given suitable lamps and a dimmer to match, both chosen separately.
Each E27 socket carries its own shade, and the plate and shade holders keep the antique gold finish running through. Dust the opal with a dry cloth; where fingermarks show, a barely damp cloth and a quick dry afterwards will clear them, and household sprays and metal polishes are best kept away from the gold. It carries a one year warranty. If you like the shape but need less of it, the same wine shades come on a single light flush fitting, and the range runs to polished chrome for cooler rooms. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How much room does it need on the ceiling?
It is 400mm in diameter and drops just 90mm below the ceiling line, so it stays well clear of head height even in a low room.
What lamps should I buy for it?
It takes three E27 lamps rated up to 20W each. LED is the sensible choice here, and the shape of lamp you pick will show through the opal shades, so a compact LED sits most neatly.
Can I put it on a dimmer?
Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a dimmer suited to them. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with the fitting.
Is it suitable for a bathroom or a covered porch?
No. It is rated IP20, which makes it a dry indoor fitting for hallways, bedrooms and living rooms rather than anywhere damp or exposed.
How do I clean the shades without marking them?
Switch the light off and let it cool first, then wipe the opal with a soft dry cloth. For smudges, use a cloth wrung out in plain water and dry the surface at once.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 3.3kg.
