Three slender wine shaped shades in clear and smoke glass hang from a straight satin nickel bar, spaced along its 850mm span so the light falls in a line rather than a single pool. Each shade takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and the drop can be set short or long, bringing the glass down close over a surface or lifting it well clear of heads. The satin nickel keeps the metalwork quiet and lets the glass do the talking.

A linear arrangement like this earns its place over a kitchen island, a long dining table or a breakfast bar, where one central pendant tends to leave the ends of the run in shadow. It works over a console or a hall table too, if the ceiling gives you the height. We would choose clear filament style lamps here, since the glass is see through and the lamp itself becomes part of the look. Dimming is possible where suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer are used, though neither comes with it.

The bar and its fittings are finished in satin nickel, a soft grey sheen that sits happily beside stainless steel appliances and brushed handles without competing with them. Glass of this sort shows fingerprints and cooking haze more than opaque shades do, so give each one a wipe with a dry microfibre cloth every few weeks and a little glass cleaner on the cloth, never sprayed at the fitting, when it needs more. It is intended for dry rooms indoors and carries a one year warranty. How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 270mm at its shortest to 2270mm at its longest, so it can be set tight to the ceiling or dropped a long way over an island.

What lamps should I fit?

Three E27 lamps, each rated no higher than 20W. LED is the sensible choice, and because the glass is clear and smoke, a decorative lamp with a visible filament looks best.

How wide is each shade?

Each wine shaped shade measures 80mm across, which is what keeps the row looking slim rather than heavy.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a dimmer matched to them. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

How do I keep the glass clear?

Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth. For smears, dampen the cloth with glass cleaner rather than spraying anything onto the fitting, and let the glass dry fully before switching on.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. This one is for dry indoor rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms and hallways.
