Description
Three opal shades hang in a line from a slim satin nickel bar, each drawn into the tapered wine shape that gives the range its name. The glass reads milky rather than clear, so the light it gives is diffused and easy on the eye. The bar measures 850mm across, and the suspension is adjustable, so the height can be set to the table or worktop below. Each shade takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W.
It works best where light needs to run along something rather than sit over a single point: a kitchen island, a narrow dining table, a breakfast bar. We reach for a linear pendant like this when a single central fitting would leave the ends of a long table dim. It will dim with compatible lamps and a suitable dimmer, both bought separately, which helps in a room that has to work for eating and sitting alike. Rooms with some ceiling height get the most from the adjustable suspension, though it shortens happily for lower ones.
The metalwork carries a satin nickel finish, a soft low sheen that shows marks less readily than polished chrome. Dust the shades with a dry cloth; if they need more, put a little glass cleaner on the cloth rather than spraying it at the fitting, and leave the power off until everything is cool. It carries a one year warranty. The same wine shade turns up elsewhere in the range on single light flush fittings, in antique gold with opal and in polished chrome with amber, so a landing or hall can be tied back to the pendant over the table. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How low will it hang?
The drop is adjustable from 270mm at its shortest to 2270mm at its longest, so it can sit close under a standard ceiling or hang well down over an island.
What lamps does it take?
Three E27 lamps, each up to 20W. LED is the sensible choice here, with the lamp shape picked to suit the shade. Lamps are supplied separately.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor the dimmer come with the fitting.
What size island or table does it suit?
The bar is 850mm long and only 80mm wide, so it reads as a slim line above a two to four seat table or a compact island run.
How should the opal shades be cleaned?
Switch the light off and let it cool, then wipe with a dry microfibre cloth. For smears, dampen the cloth with glass cleaner instead of spraying the fitting directly.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated for dry interior rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms and hallways, not for bathroom zones or covered outdoor spaces.
