Description

Three glass shades hang from a round antique gold plate, each blown with a dimpled surface that breaks the light into small points. The glass is graded across the set in amber, clear and smoke, so the pendant reads warm at one end and cooler at the other. Every shade has its own adjustable suspension, so you can stagger the heights or hold them level, and the plate measures 40cm across.

This is a fitting for a long surface: a dining table, a kitchen island, a run of worktop with stools pulled up to it. The hall of a taller house takes it well too, hung low enough for the glass to catch the eye at the door. We would fit clear LED filament lamps here, because the dimpled glass shows the shape of whatever sits inside it. It takes E27 lamps and will dim, given lamps made for dimming and a matching dimmer.

The shades are glass throughout, coloured in the melt rather than sprayed, and the metalwork carries a warm antique gold with the softness of aged brass rather than a bright polish. Dust settles in the dimples, so a dry make-up brush or a clean paintbrush is more use than a cloth, and wipe the glass only once the lamps are cold. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from a shower zone or an open porch. It carries a one year warranty. The same dimpled glass turns up elsewhere in the Lori range as a single light flush fitting in antique gold, and there are polished chrome versions of the smaller fittings if you need to match the ironmongery in a room.
