Description

Amber shades sit grouped beneath a round polished chrome plate, each one shaped like an upturned wine glass. The fitting holds close to the ceiling, 40cm across and shallow in depth, so it reads as a warm band of colour rather than something hanging into the room. Switched on, the amber pushes the light towards honey and takes the edge off a bright lamp.

We reach for a flush fitting like this where a pendant would hang too low: hallways, landings, a galley kitchen, or a bedroom under a modest ceiling. It takes three E27 lamps, and we would fit LED ones chosen to suit the shades. It will dim if you pair dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, though neither of those comes with it. Low-ceilinged cottages and flats suit it particularly, as does a stairwell where anything hanging would be a nuisance to pass.

Polished chrome runs across the plate and metalwork, and the amber sits against it warmly rather than fighting it. Keep the chrome bright with a dry cloth run over it now and then; when the shades have gone cold, a cloth wrung out in warm water will lift dust and fingermarks, and everything wants drying off afterwards. It is wired for indoor rooms on an ordinary household circuit, away from splashes and steam. It carries a one year warranty. Within the range the same amber shade is offered on a smaller single light flush fitting, and there are chrome, clear and iridescent shades to be had on polished chrome, plus a set on antique gold if you want less brightness overhead.
