Description

The Lodods is a pendant light with a rounded cage of fine steel wires in a textured black finish, hung from a slim black cord and a neat round ceiling rose. It measures 45cm across and has an overall height of 110cm. The cage is wider than it is tall, and because the wirework is open, it gives a room real presence without the visual weight of a solid shade. It takes a standard E27 bulb, which is not included. Its IP20 rating settles where it belongs: dry rooms indoors, never a bathroom or a garden.

We think it looks its best over a dining table, where the round cage gives the table a focal point while the open wires keep the view across the room uncluttered. It suits a living room, a bedroom or a hallway with good ceiling height just as well, and a pair over a long table looks deliberate rather than busy. Because the cage is open, the bulb stays on view, so it pays to choose a bulb whose look you like: a decorative filament bulb sits well with the black wirework. In a room of white walls, grey fabrics or natural wood, it adds shape and contrast while keeping things simple.

The body is steel, and steel is strong and holds its shape, so the wire cage keeps its even curve. Everything is black, from the ceiling rose and cord to the lampholder housing and the cage, so the light reads as one clean line. There is no switch on the light itself, so it is switched at the wall like most ceiling lights, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. The packed weight is 2.1KG.
