Llamas 9 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome

The Llamas is a 960mm semi-flush ceiling light built around nine curved polished chrome arms radiating from a central sphere, each arm terminating in a G4 halogen bulb fitting. The arms vary in diameter and arc length, creating an asymmetric sculptural form that sits 450mm below the ceiling when mounted. The polished chrome finish reflects ambient light across the curves and creates moving highlights as viewpoint shifts.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and hallways with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Llamas provides general ambient light rather than task lighting. The nine G4 bulbs (sold separately, max 20W each) give flexibility to choose warm or cool halogen depending on room tone. The fitting is dimmable using a trailing edge dimmer, allowing output to be adjusted from full brightness for entertaining to low-level evening ambience.

Each of the nine chrome arms is a separate component welded to the central mounting sphere, giving the fitting a 7.5kg weight that requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or noggin rather than plasterboard alone. The 960mm diameter makes the Llamas a statement piece in rooms measuring 4m x 4m or larger — smaller rooms risk the fitting dominating the space. The semi-flush design keeps the fitting closer to the ceiling than a pendant, making it suitable for rooms where a long-drop chandelier would be impractical.

The Llamas is not compatible with LED or CFL G4 bulbs — halogen capsules only. The G4 base is a bi-pin fitting common in low-voltage halogen lighting. The trailing edge dimmer requirement means standard rotary or plate dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs will not work reliably with this fitting.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Llamas takes nine G4 halogen capsule bulbs up to 20W each, sold separately. The fitting is not compatible with LED or CFL G4 bulbs — halogen only. Most users pair this with 10W or 20W warm-white halogen capsules.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 450mm drop from ceiling to lowest point means the fitting works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The 960mm diameter also requires a room measuring at least 4m x 4m to avoid the fitting overwhelming the space.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, but only with a trailing edge dimmer. Standard rotary or plate dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs will not work reliably. A trailing edge dimmer is specifically designed for low-voltage halogen loads.

How is it fitted to the ceiling?

At 7.5kg the Llamas requires secure fixing into a ceiling joist or noggin rather than plasterboard alone. The semi-flush canopy mounts directly to a standard UK ceiling rose, but the weight means additional support may be needed depending on ceiling construction.
