Description
The Lindendale is a 405mm spherical outdoor pendant with a dark synthetic woven globe shade suspended on a western bronze chain and canopy. The open-weave construction allows light from a single E27 bulb inside to cast organic shadow patterns across covered patios, entrance porches and garden dining areas. The pendant carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water, making it suitable for use under eaves, pergolas and covered outdoor rooms where direct rainfall does not reach the fitting.
Designed for outdoor living spaces between 8-12m², the Lindendale provides ambient rather than task lighting, with the woven globe diffusing direct glare while still allowing enough light through for outdoor dining, seating areas and garden entertaining after dark. The 1829mm chain allows the drop to be adjusted between 543mm minimum and 2372mm maximum on installation, so the pendant can be set at a comfortable height above a dining table (typically 700-800mm clearance) or higher as a general porch light. The western bronze finish on the metalwork complements the dark woven shade and pairs with timber decking, natural stone paving and darker outdoor furniture.
The synthetic weave mimics natural rattan but offers greater weather resistance and colour stability under UV exposure compared to organic materials. The 405mm diameter gives the pendant enough presence to anchor a dining zone without dominating smaller covered patios, and the spherical form works with both mid-century and contemporary coastal or garden design schemes. The fitting weighs approximately 2.5kg once a bulb is fitted, so standard outdoor ceiling hooks rated for 5kg or above provide adequate support.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction, making the Lindendale suitable for covered outdoor areas like porches, pergolas and patios where direct rainfall does not reach the fitting. It is not rated for fully exposed positions without overhead cover.
What bulb does it take?
The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-8W and 2200K-2700K for outdoor ambience, or a brighter 10-12W LED for functional dining light.
Can the chain be shortened?
Yes. The 1829mm chain is adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to hang between 543mm and 2372mm from the ceiling. Excess chain can be looped inside the canopy or removed by an electrician during fitting.
How is the woven shade maintained?
The synthetic weave can be wiped with a dry or barely-damp cloth to remove dust and cobwebs. Avoid pressure washing or soaking the shade. Insect debris inside the globe can be removed by loosening the shade from the fitting once power is isolated.
