Description

Sold in pairs, this is a pared-back GU10 spot for cabinet tops and shelf runs: a brass body with an adjustable head that tilts and swivels so the light can be aimed exactly where it is wanted. Each one trails a 2m cable, supplied without a plug fitted, and there is no switch on the fitting itself, so it works from whatever switches the supply. The head takes a small reflector lamp of up to 10W, which keeps the beam tight and pooled rather than washing a whole room.

We reach for these above kitchen wall units, along the top of deep alcove shelving and inside glazed cupboards, where a pendant would hang too low and a wall light would be more than the job needs. They suit dressers, display cabinets and a study bookcase whose upper shelves sit in shadow. It is a quiet little fitting, small enough to stay out of sight while the light does the work. Fit dimmable lamps and they will dim on an existing dimmer, so the level can be dropped to something quieter after dark.

The finish is brass, warm against pale painted cabinetry and just as good with oak or walnut. It is double insulated, and the place for it is a dry room indoors, away from steam and splashes. To clean, switch off at the supply, give the head a moment to cool, then wipe the brass with a dry duster; polishes and sprays are best kept well away from it. We stock the same fitting in black and satin nickel, and the range also runs to a Type B head if you would rather a different profile. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.
