Description

The Lens is a 14cm blown glass pendant light with a reflective chrome finish, suspended on a black cable from a polished chrome ceiling plate. The shade is formed from a single piece of glass shaped into an asymmetric oval profile with a narrow opening at the base, through which a G9 bulb (sold separately) directs light downward and outward through the translucent chrome glass.

Designed for close-view installation above kitchen islands, dining tables, breakfast bars and bedside positions, the Lens works as a single statement piece or in clusters of two, three or five pendants at staggered heights. The 1685mm maximum drop allows the pendant to be set anywhere from 200mm below the ceiling (minimum drop 195mm) to over 1.6m down, making it adaptable to standard-height and double-height spaces. The narrow 80mm width at the widest point means multiple Lens pendants can be hung 150-200mm apart without crowding.

The blown chrome glass finish gives each shade a subtly mirrored surface that reflects surrounding light during the day and becomes semi-translucent when the bulb is lit. The graphite tint visible in the glass varies slightly between individual pieces depending on the thickness of the glass at different points in the hand-blown form. At 0.32kg the pendant is light enough to hang from plasterboard ceilings with a standard ceiling rose, and the G9 fitting accepts LED capsule bulbs from 2W to 5W for dimmer-compatible ambient or task lighting.

What bulb does it take?

The Lens uses a G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED G9 between 2W and 5W at 2700K-3000K. The G9 fitting is the small two-pin capsule common in compact pendant lights.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch. The pendant itself has no internal dimming restriction. Dimmer compatibility depends entirely on the bulb chosen.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The cable length is set during installation. The maximum drop of 1685mm can be shortened to any length down to the 195mm minimum by looping excess cable inside the ceiling canopy. Once installed, changing the drop requires accessing the ceiling rose again.

Does the chrome glass vary between pieces?

Yes. Each shade is hand-blown, so the thickness of the glass and the intensity of the graphite tint differ slightly between individual pendants. This affects how reflective or translucent the glass appears when lit.
