Description

A flexible white tape set with a dense run of small warm white diodes, supplied on a 5m reel and only 8mm across. The light is gentle and low in tone, nearer a filament lamp than daylight, and because the diodes sit closely along the tape the result reads as a continuous line rather than a row of bright points. We reach for it on jobs where the light should be seen and the source should not.

It suits the underside of kitchen wall units, the lip of a shelf, the inside of an alcove or a glazed cabinet, the top of a pelmet and the back of a headboard. Being narrow, it sits happily in slim aluminium channels and tight reveals where a bulkhead or a batten would never go. A 12 volt constant voltage driver is needed and is bought separately, sized to the run you actually use. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, clear of splashes and steam.

The tape itself is white, so it drops out of sight against pale timber, painted board and light stone once tucked behind a lip. Dust gathers along the diodes in time and dulls the output; with the power off, draw a dry cloth gently along the length rather than pressing down on the tape. It carries a two year warranty. The diodes are part of the strip and cannot be swapped, so treat the reel as a single fitting and plan the run before cutting. Warm white of this sort sits well with brass and warm woods, and we would use two runs where we can, one under the units and one lifting a shelf above, so the light arrives from two heights rather than one.
