Description
The Larva is a linear pendant light with six smoked glass shades hung from a long oval ceiling plate in black steel. The shades come in two shapes, a taller rounded barrel and a fuller, squatter globe, set at staggered heights so the line of glass rises and falls along its length. The glass is vapour-coated to a black-transparent tint, which gives each unlit shade a dark, mirrored sheen and lets a soft glow through whenever the LEDs are lit. It measures 118.5cm long, 33cm wide and 150cm high overall. The light source is integrated LED. Rated IP20, it has no protection against water, so it belongs indoors in a dry room.
Its length makes it a natural choice over a dining table or a kitchen island, where six points of light spread along the surface instead of pooling in the middle. It also suits a long living room or an open-plan space that needs a focal point. Each light gives 510lm, and the colour temperature runs from a warm 2700K for relaxed evenings to a cool 6500K for tasks that need clear, bright light. The smoked glass and black steel sit happily in modern and industrial interiors.
The ceiling plate and body are steel in a black finish, matching the fine black cords. Each of the six lights draws 3.7W, and the fitting is dimmable. There is no switch on the fitting: it is switched at the wall, and the remote control in the box lets you dim the light and change the colour temperature. The remote runs on a CR2032 coin battery. The fitting works on 220-240V mains and has an energy class of D. As a wired mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Its packed weight is 9.366KG.
