Description

The Kostrena is a ceiling fan with light built into one round, flush-mounted body, so a single fitting moves air around the room and lights it too. A white diffuser ring with a fine crystal-effect speckle circles a grey slatted grille, and the fan blades turn behind that grille rather than sweeping out across the ceiling. It measures 45.5cm in diameter and 19cm high, with a body in white and grey ABS. The light comes from integrated LEDs, three lights of 8.5W each, every one giving 1,100 lumens, so there is no separate bulb to buy.

We would put it in a living room, a dining room or an open-plan space, anywhere you would otherwise choose between a ceiling light and a standing fan. Because it sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging down on a rod, it keeps sight lines clear across the room and leaves the floor free of a second appliance. Over a dining table the diffuser ring gives a broad, soft glow, and on a warm evening the fan gets on with its work overhead. The light is dimmable, and its colour temperature spans 2700K to 6500K, from warm light to cool daylight, so one fitting can suit a relaxed supper as readily as an afternoon at the laptop.

ABS is a tough, lightweight plastic, and here it forms the white and grey body, while the white shade is plastic with a crystal effect that sparkles faintly once lit. The fan runs at three speeds, and a remote control comes in the box. It takes 220-240V, 50Hz mains power, carries energy class E and has a packed weight of 3.607KG. As a mains fitting wired into the ceiling, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download, so your electrician can read them in advance of fitting day.
