Description

The Knightsbridge Lumina is a retrofit LED module designed to replace GU10 bulbs in open-back downlights, offering selectable wattage (10W or 12W) and three colour temperatures (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, 5500K daylight). The module is milled from a single block of aluminium with a white polycarbonate prismatic diffuser, combining heat dissipation with a 40-degree beam angle for directional accent or task lighting.

Designed for residential and commercial downlight installations where GU10 bulbs previously limited output or longevity, the Lumina connects via a plug-and-play constant-current driver with loop-in-loop-out capability, allowing multiple modules to be daisy-chained from a single driver feed. The module measures 50mm diameter by 70mm height and sits within the downlight housing, with the driver positioned remotely in the ceiling void. The selectable wattage and CCT switches on the module allow the installer to configure light output and colour on-site without needing multiple SKUs.

The aluminium construction provides thermal management that extends the L70B50 rated life to 35,000 hours (approximately 12 years at 8 hours per day). The CRI >90 rating delivers accurate colour rendering for retail displays, art lighting, and hospitality interiors where colour fidelity matters. The module is dimmable when paired with trailing-edge dimmers (compatibility should be verified before installation), and an emergency backup option is available separately. Class II double-insulated construction eliminates the need for earthing, and the IP20 rating suits dry indoor environments.

Is the Lumina compatible with all downlights?

The Lumina is designed for open-back downlights only. Closed-back or thermally-insulated downlights may restrict airflow and cause overheating. Check the existing downlight housing before installation and confirm it allows heat dissipation from the rear of the module.

How do I select the wattage and colour temperature?

The module has two switches accessible on the body: one for wattage (10W or 12W) and one for CCT (3000K, 4000K, or 5500K). These are set during installation before the driver is connected. Once configured, the settings remain fixed unless physically adjusted.

Can the Lumina be dimmed?

Yes, but only with trailing-edge dimmers. Leading-edge dimmers are not compatible and may cause flicker or failure. Verify dimmer compatibility with Knightsbridge's compatibility list before installation.

What is L70B50 and what does 35,000 hours mean?

L70B50 is a lifetime rating meaning that after 35,000 hours of operation, 50% of modules in a batch will still produce at least 70% of their original lumen output. At 8 hours per day, 35,000 hours equates to approximately 12 years of use.
