Description
The Knightsbridge 6ft LED emergency batten provides adjustable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K) and dual wattage output (27W or 52W) behind a single 1790mm white steel housing with an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The integrated lithium battery provides a minimum 3-hour emergency duration in maintained, non-maintained or switched modes, making this batten suitable for commercial and public building installations requiring BS 5266 compliance.
Designed as a direct replacement for twin 5ft or 6ft fluorescent tube fittings, the batten includes rear and end conduit fixing points and sits on standard 600mm centres or BESA boxes. The hinged gear tray and push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals allow single-step installation without needing a terminal block or separate wiring chamber. At 52W the batten delivers 7,520lm at 4000K with an efficacy of 165.5 lm/W, providing output comparable to 2 x 58W fluorescent tubes at half the running cost.
The pressed steel housing measures 1790mm long by 61mm wide with a 71mm projection from the ceiling or wall. The opal diffuser produces an even 145-degree beam spread without visible LED hotspots. The CCT and wattage switches are accessible inside the housing, allowing adjustment on-site to match existing lighting or room-specific requirements. The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours at 4000K equates to approximately 13 years of continuous operation before the LED degrades to 70% of initial brightness.
The IP20 rating limits the batten to dry internal locations such as offices, corridors, warehouses, stairwells and workshops. The 5-year warranty covers the LED driver and light source (battery excluded). The Class I construction requires an earth connection during installation.

Frequently Asked
How is the CCT and wattage adjusted?
Two DIP switches are accessible inside the housing after removing the diffuser. One switch sets the colour temperature (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white or 5700K daylight), the other sets the wattage output (27W or 52W). Adjustment takes seconds and does not require re-wiring.
What's the difference between maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency modes?
Maintained mode keeps the emergency light on continuously and switches to battery during mains failure. Non-maintained mode keeps the emergency light off during normal operation and switches it on during mains failure. Switched mode allows the fitting to be controlled by a wall switch during normal operation, switching to battery on mains failure.
Will this replace a twin 5ft or 6ft fluorescent fitting?
Yes. The batten mounts on standard 600mm centres and includes conduit fixing points that match most commercial fluorescent fittings. At 52W and 4000K the output of 7,520lm is comparable to 2 x 58W fluorescent tubes, with lower running costs and longer life.
How long does the emergency battery last?
The lithium battery provides a minimum 3-hour emergency duration at 310lm output. The battery is not covered by the 5-year warranty and will require replacement after approximately 3-4 years depending on discharge cycles.
