Description
The Knightsbridge BATMCW5 is a 1525mm (5ft) LED batten with adjustable wattage settings from 22W to 41W and switchable colour temperature between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K. The integrated LED module sits behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser within a pressed steel body finished in white, delivering up to 6,000lm at 4000K on the 41W setting. The modular design accepts optional emergency and sensor modules that clip into place without tools.
Designed for plant rooms, corridors, stairwells, storage areas and workshop ceilings where functional lighting is needed without decorative fittings, the batten mounts on standard 600mm fixing centres and supports BESA box installation. The hinged gear tray and push-fit loop-through terminal block reduce installation time on multi-batten runs. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor environments only.
The wattage adjustment switches between 22W, 28W, 34W and 41W settings by toggling a selector on the driver, allowing light output to be matched to room size and ceiling height without changing the fitting. The CCT switch similarly changes colour temperature from warm white (3000K) through neutral white (4000K) to cool daylight (5700K). The 120° beam angle provides wide wash coverage typical of corridor and stairwell lighting, and the fitting's efficacy of up to 173lm/W (light source only) delivers high output for low running costs.
The pressed steel housing weighs approximately 1.8kg and projects 70mm from the ceiling once mounted. The opal diffuser softens the LED strip inside to reduce glare when walking beneath the fitting. The 7-year warranty covers the LED module, driver and housing, and the L70B50 rating of 100,000 hours indicates the point at which 50% of a sample group would reach 70% of initial light output.

Frequently Asked
How is the wattage and colour temperature adjusted?
Both are changed using selector switches on the driver unit inside the fitting. The wattage switch toggles between 22W, 28W, 34W and 41W. The CCT switch toggles between 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) and 5700K (cool daylight). Both settings require access to the gear tray during installation or maintenance.
What are the emergency and sensor modules?
Knightsbridge offers optional emergency backup and PIR sensor modules that clip into the batten's modular housing without additional wiring. These are sold separately and allow the batten to be upgraded for maintained/non-maintained emergency lighting or occupancy detection after initial installation.
Can it be installed in damp or outdoor locations?
No. The IP20 rating is for dry indoor use only. For damp areas (bathrooms, outdoor canopies) a higher-rated IP65 batten is needed.
What is the L70B50 rating?
L70B50 of 100,000 hours means that after 100,000 hours of operation, 50% of a sample group of these fittings would still produce at least 70% of their initial light output. This is a standard LED longevity metric.
