Knightsbridge 5ft 33W Modular LED Batten 4000K - White

The Knightsbridge 5ft modular LED batten is a 1525mm linear fitting with an integrated 33W LED delivering 4600lm at 4000K cool white. The pressed steel body is finished in white with an opal polycarbonate diffuser that distributes light across a 120-degree beam angle. The batten accepts modular plug-in accessories including emergency backup modules (MODEMKIT) and microwave presence sensors (MODMWS), allowing the fitting to be specified for different functional requirements without changing the base unit.

Designed for utility, industrial and commercial installations where bright, consistent overhead light is required without decorative features, the batten suits plant rooms, stairwells, warehouses, back-of-house areas, garages, workshops and storage facilities. The IP20 rating limits use to dry internal environments. The fitting mounts to standard BESA fixings at 600mm centres, with rear and end conduit entry points for cable runs and a hinged gear tray that opens for access to wiring without removing the batten from the ceiling.

The integrated LED operates at 152lm/W source efficacy, achieving an overall 140lm/W system efficacy after diffuser losses. The L70B50 rating of 100,000 hours indicates the point at which 50% of a sample group will have dropped to 70% of initial output — approximately 11.4 years of continuous use or 22+ years at 12 hours per day. The constant-current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains and the batten is Class I, requiring an earth connection. The non-dimmable driver delivers consistent output without flicker.

Can this batten be fitted with emergency backup?

Yes. The modular design accepts the Knightsbridge MODEMKIT emergency module, which plugs into the batten and provides backup illumination during mains failure. The emergency module is sold separately.

What's the difference between 4600lm and 5100lm in the specification?

5100lm is the raw LED output at the source. 4600lm is the output after losses through the opal diffuser and internal reflector geometry — this is the light that actually exits the fitting and illuminates the space.

Can this be surface-mounted to a ceiling with no BESA point?

Yes. The batten has pre-drilled mounting holes at 600mm centres and can be screwed directly to a ceiling joist, concrete soffit or plasterboard with appropriate fixings. BESA compatibility is an option, not a requirement.

Is the batten suitable for cold or damp environments?

The IP20 rating limits use to dry internal environments with normal domestic or commercial humidity levels. It is not suitable for unheated outbuildings with condensation, damp cellars, or outdoor canopies. For those applications, an IP65-rated batten would be required.
