Description

The Klampenborg is a 1 light outdoor pedestal lantern in silver powder-coated 304-grade stainless steel, with an integrated PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor mounted on the body. The sensor detects movement within its detection range and activates the light automatically, providing security lighting for pathways, driveways, front gardens and entrance areas without requiring manual switching.

Designed for year-round outdoor installation in UK coastal and exposed environments, the pedestal carries an IP44 rating for protection against water splash from any direction. The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in salt air and damp conditions better than standard mild steel or aluminium. The clear glass lantern enclosure around the single E27 bulb fitting allows light to spread evenly across the ground plane while the PIR sensor ensures the light only runs when motion is detected, reducing energy consumption compared to dusk-to-dawn operation.

The pedestal mounts to a hard standing surface (paving, concrete base, or decking with suitable reinforcement) via a circular baseplate fixed with through-bolts. The silver powder-coat finish provides a neutral tone that pairs with both traditional and contemporary architecture, while the lantern profile references Scandinavian maritime lighting. The single E27 fitting accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), giving control over light temperature and brightness depending on whether the installation prioritises security visibility or ambient garden lighting.

Frequently Asked

What is the PIR detection range?

PIR sensor specifications vary by model. Typical detection ranges for pedestal-mounted sensors are 5-8m with a 120-180° horizontal sweep. Contact us for the exact specification for this Klampenborg unit before purchasing if detection range is critical to your installation.

What bulb does it take?

The pedestal takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W for efficient operation with the PIR sensor.

Can the PIR sensor be adjusted or disabled?

Most PIR sensors on pedestal lights include adjustable sensitivity and time-delay settings accessible via controls on the sensor body. Some models also allow the sensor to be disabled to use the light in always-on mode. Check the product manual or contact us for model-specific control options.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The 304-grade stainless steel construction and powder-coated finish provide better corrosion resistance than mild steel or aluminium, making the Klampenborg suitable for coastal gardens and exposed positions. Regular cleaning with fresh water helps maintain the finish in high-salt environments.
