Description

The Kirmarne is a 4 light spotlight bar for the ceiling: a slim, straight steel bar in satin nickel carrying four cylindrical spotlights on short chrome stems. It is 78cm long and 7cm wide, so it reaches across a generous stretch of ceiling while staying narrow and tidy overhead. Each spotlight takes a GU10 lamp; the bar is rated at 4 x 4.6W, with 400lm per light, giving four separate pools of light from a single ceiling point. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms only.

Because each spotlight can be angled on its own, this is the fitting we suggest where one ceiling light has to do several jobs at once. In a living room, two heads can wash a wall of shelves or pictures while the other two light the sofa and the reading corner. Over a dining table, the four heads can be aimed to cover the whole table rather than only its centre. It suits hallways, studies, landings and bedrooms too, anywhere dry that would otherwise need several separate lights. The satin nickel and chrome finish is a cool, quiet metallic that sits comfortably with white walls, grey tones and modern furniture.

The body is steel, finished in satin nickel with chrome details. There is no switch on the bar itself: it is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch you already have. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a wired-in ceiling light it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download, and the bar weighs 1.419KG packed. Before you order, measure the run of ceiling you have in mind: at 78cm long, the bar needs a clear stretch, well away from cupboard doors and tall furniture.
