Description
The Kimitsu decorative bowl is a round, openwork bowl in aluminium with a nickel finish. Its walls are a lacy web of irregular loops that recall branching coral. It measures 40cm across and stands 15cm high. It is raised on small feet, so it sits a little above the table and reads as a sculptural piece even when empty. Because the sides are more opening than metal, light passes straight through the pattern and whatever you place inside shows through the walls. At 1.1KG it is light enough to lift with one hand and move from the dining room to the kitchen as you please.
We see it as a centrepiece on a dining table, a kitchen island or a sideboard, where its 40cm span gives it presence without crowding the surface. It sits just as happily on a wide coffee table or a hallway console. The organic pattern suits anyone drawn to coastal or natural shapes, and the silvery nickel tone pairs well with chrome, glass, white marble and pale wood. The openings are generous, so it is best filled with larger pieces such as apples, oranges or pine cones; small loose items would slip through the gaps. Left empty, the pattern does the decorating by itself.
Each Kimitsu bowl is handmade, so every piece is unique. The loops and the uneven rim of yours will differ a little from the next, and that small variation is part of its character. The nickel finish gives the aluminium a soft, silvery sheen that catches the light along every curve. The bowl is not dishwasher-proof, so clean it by hand whenever it needs attention. Set it where it can be seen from every side and it will hold its own in any room.

Frequently Asked
How big is the Kimitsu bowl?
It measures 40cm across and stands 15cm high, which makes it a generous centrepiece for a dining table, kitchen island or sideboard.
What material is the bowl?
It is aluminium with a nickel finish, which gives it a soft silvery sheen. It weighs 1.1KG, so it is easy to lift and move around the house.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
No, it is not dishwasher-proof, so we suggest cleaning it by hand whenever the bowl needs attention.
Is every bowl the same?
Every bowl is handmade, so each piece is unique. The pattern of loops and the shape of the rim vary a little from one bowl to the next.
What can I put inside the bowl?
Larger pieces such as apples, oranges or pine cones suit it best. Small loose items would slip through the open pattern, and the bowl looks just as good left empty.
