Description

Woven rattan in a soft beige gives this fitting an airy, hand-made look overhead, the shade opening out to 58cm across. The 55W LED is built in and tuneable, so the light can move from a warm evening glow to a crisper, brighter tone for reading, and the supplied remote handles the dimming as well as the colour. A quiet DC fan sits behind the weave, with a fixed speed and a reverse setting for gently shifting air.

We would choose it for a bedroom or a sitting room where a fan hung on a long drop would crowd the space, since it keeps its bulk close to the ceiling while still turning the air over. The natural weave works with linen, cane and pale plaster tones, and holds its own against darker walls without adding visual weight. It is rated against splashes too, so a shower room, an en suite or a busy kitchen is fair game, and the remote means no reaching for a pull cord in the dark.

The rattan is beige right through the weave rather than sprayed on, so the tone stays even. Dust settles in the grooves, and the easiest way to lift it is a dry soft brush or the upholstery nozzle of a vacuum on a low setting; leave water and sprays out of it altogether. Turn the power off and let the fitting cool before you go near the centre. It carries a five year warranty.
