Karolina 6 Light Crystal Ceiling Light - Gold

The Karolina is a 41cm crystal ceiling light built around a gold-finish metal frame supporting six E14 bulb fittings, each surrounded by cascading faceted crystal pendants in varying shapes and sizes. The frame radiates outward from a central canopy in curved arcs, creating a semi-flush profile that sits 21.5cm below the ceiling when mounted.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above, the Karolina works as a centrepiece in dining rooms, living rooms and hallways where a lower ceiling precludes a full drop chandelier. The six bulbs (sold separately) are positioned in a ring around the outer edge of the frame, distributing light evenly across the room while the crystal pendants multiply and refract that light into prismatic highlights across walls and ceilings. The fixture requires six E14 candle bulbs up to 40W each, with most installations using warm-white LED candles between 4-6W to achieve soft ambient lighting.

The gold finish on the metal frame is a warm mid-tone that pairs with brass door furniture, gold-framed mirrors and warm wood tones in traditional and classical interiors. The crystals are faceted K9 glass rather than lead crystal, giving clear light refraction without the weight or fragility of antique chandeliers. The combined weight of the metal frame and glass pendants gives the fitting a substantial presence without requiring reinforced ceiling joists — a standard UK plasterboard ceiling with a proper fixing is sufficient. The IP20 rating limits the Karolina to dry indoor use only; it is not suitable for bathrooms, kitchens directly above hobs, or outdoor covered areas.

What bulbs does it take?

The Karolina takes six E14 candle bulbs up to 40W each, sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED candles between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting. Clear or frosted bulbs both work, though clear bulbs show more prismatic refraction through the crystals.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulbs fitted. If you use dimmable E14 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch, the fixture will dim. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.

What ceiling height does it need?

The 21.5cm drop from ceiling to lowest crystal pendant works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. In lower rooms the fixture may feel visually heavy; in higher rooms it provides a lower focal point without the cable run of a full drop chandelier.

How is it cleaned?

Switch off the mains supply before cleaning. Wipe the metal frame with a soft dry cloth. For the crystal pendants, use a microfibre cloth lightly dampened with distilled water, wiping each pendant individually. Avoid household glass cleaners as they can leave residue that dulls the crystal over time.
