Description

The Kariba is a 31cm-tall cast aluminium figurine depicting two elephants with entwined trunks, mounted on a polished granite base. The sculpture shows one elephant standing behind and slightly to the side of the other, both heads turned inward so the trunks cross and touch. The casting captures individual wrinkles on the trunks, textured ears and defined musculature across the bodies.

Designed as a decorative accent for console tables, sideboards, shelving and mantels, the figurine works in living rooms, hallways and studies where animal motifs or natural forms are part of the interior scheme. The 28cm width and 25cm depth mean it sits comfortably on surfaces 40cm deep or wider without overhanging the edge. The 2kg weight gives the piece stability without requiring fixing.

The aluminium is finished in antique nickel, a mid-grey tone with subtle tonal variation across the surface that mimics aged metal rather than polished chrome. The granite base provides a contrasting dark anchor and prevents the lighter aluminium from blending into pale surfaces. The granite base is flat and polished. The figurine sits stably on any level surface at least 40cm deep — sideboards, console tables, mantels and wide shelving all work. The base is non-scratch but felt pads can be added if placing on high-gloss furniture.
