Description

The Kamarne is a round recessed LED downlight in white, with an aluminium body and a tilting inner ring that lets you angle the light towards a picture, a shelf or a feature wall. It measures 8.8cm across, so the trim on the ceiling stays small and tidy. The LED draws 4.7W and gives 440lm, a focused pool of light rather than enough for a whole room on its own, so most rooms want several fitted in a run. It carries an IP20 rating, which settles where it can go: indoors in dry rooms, and never in a bathroom or outside.

Because both the colour and the colour temperature change, one set of downlights covers a lot of moods. Run them at a warm 2700K in a living room or bedroom in the evening, turn them up to a crisp 6500K in a study or dressing area where you want clear, bright light, or switch to a coloured glow for a party. The tilting ring earns its keep in alcoves and over shelves, where a straight beam would miss the very thing you want lit. For anyone building a smart home room by room, it brings app control into the ceiling while still looking like a plain white downlight.

The light is controlled by app, and it also works with a remote control, which is sold separately. It is dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it is switched at the wall like the rest of your lights. It runs on 220-240V mains and has an energy class of E. Check your ceiling before you order: it needs a cut-out 6.8cm across and 4.2cm of recess depth in the void overhead. The installation instructions come as a PDF download, and because it is a wired mains fitting, a qualified electrician should install it.
