Description

The Kamarne is a round recessed LED downlight in white, with an aluminium body and a trim 8.8cm across that sits neatly against the ceiling. The LED is integrated, drawing 6W and giving 450lm of warm white light at 2700K, a cosy, golden tone suited to the home. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from steam and splashing water. The inner ring tilts within the trim, so each downlight can be angled to throw its light where you need it rather than straight downwards.

Set in a row along a kitchen bulkhead, these downlights wash warm light down tall cupboard fronts. Along a run of wardrobes or in a dressing room, they pick out the clothes on the rail. They suit hallways and living rooms too, wherever a clean ceiling with no hanging shades is the look you want. Being dimmable, it lets you run the light bright for cooking or getting ready, then bring it down for a calmer evening. It has no switch of its own, so it works from your wall switch like any other ceiling light.

Each downlight holds in the ceiling with two spring clips and needs a hole 6.8cm across. As a mains light running at 220 to 240V, 50/60Hz, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. The LED is not replaceable, which means there are no bulbs to buy or change; when it reaches the end of its life, the whole downlight is replaced. Aluminium is a light metal that does not rust, and each one weighs just 0.176KG packed. It carries an Energy Class E rating. The one figure to check first is depth: with 4.2cm of clear space above the ceiling, the Kamarne will fit neatly.
