Description

The Kamarne is a round LED downlight that sits recessed into the ceiling, with a brushed satin nickel bezel 8.8cm across framing a deep, faceted reflector. The body is aluminium and the light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 6W and gives 600lm of cool white light at 4000K, a crisp, clear white that feels bright and awake. The IP20 rating settles one decision early: this downlight is for dry rooms indoors, never a bathroom or anywhere outside.

Set in a line along a hallway ceiling, a few of these give an even wash of light while keeping the ceiling plain, with only the slim nickel rings showing. They work just as well on a landing, in a home office or study, a dressing room or a living room where a pendant would crowd a low ceiling. Cool white is a good match for spaces used for reading, sorting paperwork or getting ready in the morning, and because the downlight is dimmable it can be turned down on a suitable dimmer when the evening calls for something gentler. The satin nickel finish sits comfortably with brushed steel handles, chrome switch plates and grey or white schemes.

Each downlight needs a hole 6.8cm across cut into the ceiling and a recess depth of 5.6cm, so it is worth checking the void above before ordering. Spring clips grip the ceiling board to hold it in place. It runs on mains power at 220-240V and has no switch of its own, so it is switched at the wall, and it carries an energy class of E. Aluminium is light and does not rust. Packed, each one weighs 0.214KG. As a mains light wired into the ceiling, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
