Description

The Kamarne is a square LED downlight with an aluminium trim in satin nickel. The finish is a soft, brushed metallic grey that sits quietly against a pale ceiling. It measures 8.8cm wide and 8.8cm long, and the light comes from an integrated 6W LED giving 450lm at 2700K, a warm white. The round reflector tilts inside the square frame, so you can angle the beam where you want it rather than straight at the floor. It is rated IP20, which decides where it belongs: indoors and in dry rooms only. It is not for bathrooms or anywhere near water.

We would put it in living rooms, hallways, landings, studies and bedrooms, either for general light in a run across the ceiling or as an accent. Because the head tilts, it is good at picking out a picture, a shelf or a stretch of textured plaster. The square trim gives a crisper, more architectural line than a round downlight, which suits modern interiors and sits well alongside other brushed metal finishes. It is dimmable, so the same fitting gives bright, useful light when you are busy and a lower glow when you want to unwind.

It has no switch of its own and is switched at the wall, running on mains at 220-240V, 50/60Hz. As a wired-in light, it is installed by a qualified electrician. Spring clips hold it in place. It needs a cut-out of 6.8cm and a recess depth of 4.2cm, so it is worth measuring the space before you order. The LED is integrated and not replaceable, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. Packed, it weighs just 0.188KG. The installation instructions come as a download, so your electrician can read them before the day.
