Description

The Jude is a 305mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a clear glass dome shade and a matte black metal stem with matching ceiling mount. A single E27 bulb sits inside the dome, visible through the clear glass, with the 254mm drop between ceiling and shade base keeping the fitting compact enough for rooms with ceiling heights around 2.4m.

Designed for hallways, landings, kitchens and utility rooms where a full pendant would hang too low, the Jude provides ambient light through the glass dome while keeping the bulb accessible for changing without removing the shade. The semi-flush format mounts directly to a standard ceiling rose, with the short metal stem providing just enough separation to prevent heat build-up against the ceiling plaster.

The clear glass dome is smooth-walled without faceting or texturing, so the bulb choice determines the visual effect when lit. A filament LED or traditional Edison-style bulb becomes part of the design, visible through the glass. A frosted bulb diffuses the light more evenly across the dome. The matte black finish on the metalwork provides a low-sheen surface that reads neutral in most interiors without the reflectivity of polished or gloss black.

What bulb does it take?

The Jude takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W for ambient hallway or kitchen lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 254mm fitting height makes this a good choice for rooms with ceiling heights around 2.4m or lower, where a full pendant would hang too low. The semi-flush format keeps the fitting close to the ceiling.

Can the glass dome be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The glass dome typically unscrews or unclips from the metal stem, allowing access to clean the inside of the glass and change the bulb without removing the entire fitting from the ceiling.

Is the glass clear or frosted?

The glass dome is clear, so the bulb is visible through the shade when lit. Pairing the fitting with a frosted or opal bulb will diffuse the light more evenly if you prefer not to see the bulb filament.
