The Jelvine is a pendant light with a dome shade built from triangular steel facets, black on the outside with fine gold lines along the seams between each panel and a gold lining inside. The shade is 40cm across and the light has an overall height of 110cm, hanging from a black cable and a round ceiling rose. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, which is not included, so the brightness and warmth of the light are yours to choose. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in rooms that stay dry, rather than in a bathroom or outside.

At 40cm across, it has enough presence to hang over a dining table or a kitchen island, or to sit at the centre of a living room, bedroom or hallway ceiling. In daylight the black exterior gives a crisp, graphic outline, and with the bulb lit the gold lining shows warmly from the open base. It suits a home that pairs dark tones with warm metallics, and it sits as comfortably in a modern room as in one with more traditional furniture. Because it is switched at the wall, there is no pull cord or inline switch to interrupt the clean line of the cable.
