Description

The Jellicoe Candlestick is a five-branch candle holder in aluminium with a nickel finish, and it gives a dining table or mantelpiece a sculptural, hand-worked centrepiece. Five slender stems flare gently towards the top, each ending in a round cup, and they rise to staggered heights so the flames sit at different levels rather than in a neat row. A long crossbar joins the outer stems and a shorter bar links the inner ones, giving the frame its open, architectural shape. It stands 29cm tall, 23.5cm long and 18cm wide, and weighs 1.3KG.

Set it down the middle of a dining table and it is low enough for guests to see one another across it, yet the stepped flames give the table real height and movement. It works just as well on a sideboard, a console in the hallway or a living room mantelpiece. Because the stems are spread in depth as well as in width, it looks full from the front and from an angle. The soft silvery sheen of the nickel sits happily with grey, white and natural wood, and alongside chrome or stainless steel.
