Jarras 40cm Glass Pendant Light - Chrome & Ash Grey

The Jarras is a 40cm diameter glass pendant light with a cylindrical ash grey glass shade suspended within a polished chrome frame. The shade sits between two chrome rings — a narrow top band and a wider base collar — connected by vertical chrome rods. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) inside the glass creates a soft diffused glow through the smoked grey glass while the chrome components remain reflective.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and bar areas, the Jarras suits rooms with 2.4m or higher ceilings. The adjustable drop runs from 490mm minimum to 1980mm maximum, allowing the pendant to be positioned 600-800mm above a worktop or dining surface depending on ceiling height. The 40cm diameter provides enough presence over a table without dominating smaller spaces, and multiple Jarras pendants can be hung in a row over longer islands or tables for balanced coverage.

The ash grey glass has a translucent, slightly smoky tone that softens the light output without blocking it entirely. Under daylight the glass reads as a cool mid-grey; when lit, the E27 bulb warms the glass from within and creates tonal variation depending on the bulb temperature chosen. The polished chrome finish reflects surrounding light and pairs cleanly with stainless steel appliances, chrome hardware and both contemporary and industrial-leaning interiors. At 4.8kg the pendant needs secure ceiling fixing to a joist or suitable ceiling rose rated for the weight.

Is the Jarras dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable E27 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The pendant itself supports dimming but the bulb and dimmer must both be rated for dimming to work correctly.

What bulb does it take?

The Jarras takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to the wattage specified by the manufacturer. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient dining or kitchen island lighting.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is set during installation by adjusting the cable length before fixing the ceiling canopy. Once installed, the drop remains fixed unless the fitting is taken down and the cable re-adjusted.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 490mm plus the 40cm shade height means the pendant works best in rooms with 2.4m or higher ceilings. For lower ceilings, the pendant may hang too low over a table or island unless the drop is kept at its minimum length.
